After the 25th anniversary of the Greater Reading Open in
2009, the crew headed over to Maple Grove Race way for the Super Chevy
Series Racing. Reading Open Stalwart Clay W was on his dad's crew on
the Winter's Racing 57 Chevy. We got
there early to witness some awesome bracket racing where karen practiced
her picture taking under these high speed conditions. We got to see
the wheelie guy,
some dragsters, and the jet cars before the
Super Chevy race began. Doug torched his
first opponent clocking a 4.06 blowing the doors off the competition.
After rebuilding the engine it was time to take
on the Mohegan Sun in the Semifinals and Doug once again had an
oustanding racing posting a 4.01 - the Mohegan never had a chance.
And in the other semifinal Ken "the Kid" the announcer's favorite son, got
knocked out so Doug was paired up against the other guy.
Unfortunately it was getting late and the tired and hungover crew decided
to head on home before the finals which Doug won with another 4.01 to take
Super CHevy Championship and the $250, 000 prize money. Can't wait
to do it all over agin next year ! |
